This semester I had to write an essay that was split into three parts: Personal Research Studies (1000 words) which was about practitioners that I had spoken to, the ways they have influenced my project, along with any visits I'd taken for research on my project; Practitioner Lecture Series (1000 words) which was a reflective report where I had to discuss 5 lectures and what I had learned from them and lastly Research Reflection (500 words) which was a place for me to conclude my findings and to reiterate the things I have learned and how it was directly applied to my project.
Looking back on it, I should also have discussed how these things will help me in the future, since I fell slightly short on my word count for the conclusion, but overall I was pretty happy with how the essay turned out. Below the cut is my essay (images and bibliography are in my essay document).
This blog is a documentation of my journey to becoming the designer I've always wanted to be - a journey I hope will be indefinite as I learn more and more new things!

Character Concept Progress: Antagonist
After designing my protagonist and the "damsel in distress", I had to create an antagonist - I went into this design a lot more blind than with the previous concept.
Since I was feeling stumped with this concept, I began by franken-concepting silhouettes like I did with Russi initially. (This was where I looked at pre-existing characters, got rid of all colour to create a silhouette shape, then merged elements of each design that I like). I did create a few designs from this but I wasn't inspired by them so I didn't work into them any further.

MA Design Showcase: The Importance Of The Video Game Mascot
As part of our work with the other MA Design students for Design Research 2, we were asked to create posters to explain and showcase the things we had been working on so far; these were then displayed in the MA Design room for constructive critique across all of the design disciplines.
