I've been in a rut for the last few weeks, I kept wanting to tackle environment art (which is something I have no experience in what-so-ever). Because I was so adamant about diving into something so complex my work flow came to a complete halt.
On reflection I have decided that this was the wrong approach, like I was working backwards - attempting to paint the walls before I'd laid the foundations - so to speak. With this in mind, I'm now working on a game design document.
This document will cover everything from a summary, character art, mechanics, level ideas and so on. It will be primarily text-based and I won't be putting pressure on myself to add much art until it is completed. Once that is written out I'll be focusing on character art since that is something I feel more confident in; having complimentary designs is really important to the mascot character.
From there I will move on to illustrating things that may be a little unclear without visual aid (like mechanics, for example).
